Native to the Indo-Malaya region, it is found in the tropical rainforests of India. It is cultivated in the Khasi hills, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Piper longum is known to aid a number of health conditions, such as abdominal pain, fever, asthma, dyspepsia, and anorexia. It has anti-haemorrhoidal and anti-inflammation properties.
