Belonging to the family of Rutaceae, Ruta is native to Southwest Asia, Macaronesia, and the Mediterranean region. It has long been in use as a sedative, an antispasmodic, and an abortifacient. It is also added in both red and white wines to enhance the flavour. Rue is known to aid a plethora of health conditions, including muscle spasms, cramps, arthritis, headache, epilepsy, Bell’s palsy, and multiple sclerosis.
